Are You Sleep Deprived?

In our fast-paced society, we all wish we could find more hours in the day.  We are often awe of those few who seem to get by on a just a few hours of sleep and still seem to have so much energy to spare while many of us seem to drag ourselves through the day.  Over 70 million Americans are sleep-deprived, and if you recognize yourself in 3 or more of the statements below, you may be one of them.

In the morning, I often...

  • Need an alarm clock to wake up on time.
  • Hit the snooze button several times.
  • Sleep extra hours on weekend mornings to try and catch up.
  • Have dark circles under my eyes.

During the day, I often...

  • Feel tired, irritable and stressed out during the week.
  • Have trouble concentrating and remembering.
  • Feel slow with critical thinking, problem solving and being creative.
  • Take a nap to get through the day.
  • Feel drowsy while driving.

Or, I often fall asleep...

  • Watching TV.

  • During boring meetings or lectures.
  • In warm rooms.
  • After heavy meals or after a low dose of alcohol.
  • While relaxing after dinner.

According to experts, 60% of us would have more energy and vitality if we would only go to bed one hour earlier every day and stick to a regular sleep schedule.
